This course discusses the intricacies of complex international negotiations, particularly within the context of industrial arbitration. It covers the legal, policy, and practical aspects of negotiating cross-border agreements, focusing on the unique challenges and strategies involved. The course examines the life cycle of international negotiations, from preparation and strategy development to execution and resolution. It also explores the impact of Industry 4.0 technologies on negotiation practices and the role of digital tools in facilitating effective negotiations. Through a combination of lectures, case studies, and interactive role-play exercises, students will develop the skills and knowledge needed to navigate complex international negotiations, including multiparty and multi-stakeholder negotiations, cross-cultural and language barriers, and power imbalances.
